When you hire from Thoroughly Theatre, you’re not just hiring a cloth — you’re trusting us with a vital part of your production. That’s why we’ve built our packaging and delivery process around care, protection and reliability, ensuring your cloths arrive safely and on time.
We’re covering the cost of UK mainland delivery for you!
For non-mainland locations, delivery charges may apply — give us a call and we’ll advise.
We have just 8 cloths that due to their size and weight there is a delivery charge, this charge is shown on the product page.
How Our Cloths Are Packaged
Every cloth is prepared by our team before it leaves us.
All cloths are:
- Checked and inspected before packing
- Clean and ready for use on arrival
- Carefully folded to protect the fabric during transport
Depending on size, cloths are packed into sturdy plastic boxes (approximately 400 mm × 600 mm). This keeps them secure in transit and easy to store on arrival.
If a cloth requires specific handling or unpacking guidance, this will be clearly explained.
Delivery to Your Venue
We arrange delivery to arrive on the date selected when you make your booking. The delivery day forms part of your hire period.
- Deliveries are made by courier
- Someone will need to be available to receive and sign for the cloths
- Please ensure clear access for delivery on arrival
Collection at the End of Your Hire
At the end of your hire period, we’ll arrange for the courier to collect the cloths from your venue.
To help everything run smoothly, we ask that:
- Cloths are folded and packed as they arrived in the correct numbered box
- Packaging is kept safe during your hire
- Someone is available on site for the scheduled collection
- The Driver will bring the returns label
If you’re unsure how best to repack a cloth, just ask — we’re always happy to help. Packing instructions are enclosed.
Delivery Charges
- UK Mainland: Complimentary delivery and collection are included with your hire
- Outside the UK Mainland: Additional charges will apply

How does it work?
We don’t mind how you pay for the theatre backcloths and backdrops, whatever is easiest for you. You can choose and pay for your cloths on the website, or call us with your order. We accept card and BACS payments and have a deposit option for orders more than 30 days away. Make sure to check the T&Cs for full details.
We will arrange for our courier service to deliver the theatre backcloths or backdrops to your location on the date specified on your booking. They will need to be signed for. On return you’ll need to be there once again to ensure all cloths are properly folded correctly, boxed and collected by the courier. If you are unsure about anything or need something unique, call or email us, we’ve been told we’re lovely. Make sure to check the T&Cs for full details.
Actual cloth sizes are displayed against the backcloth on the website as they vary. Packed for delivery the theatre backcloths come in strong plastic boxes 400mm x 600mm and can weigh anything up to 30kg depending on the type of cloth.
